So dads are pretty important people. My dad taught me a lot of the really important and “fun” things in life. How to ride a bike, how to take responsibility for myself and others, how to choose me first, and travel the world. But probably the best thing he has ever taught me was how to sail. He taught me how to grow up embracing a Nautica lifestyle.
Father’s Day is coming up, and so is the moment in time where everyone panics. What do you buy your dad for Father’s Day… can’t do tools again… or can you? My dad has always been so hard to shop for because he pretty much buys himself everything he wants anyway!
Gifting my dad his Nautica Voyage Cologne from Walmart for Fathers Day.
For those of you that don’t know, sailing is a MASSIVE part of my life. It’s my main source of income and has been for about the last 18 years. My parents met in Fernandina, just north of Jacksonville, Florida, and decided to give up their day jobs and go cruising around the Bahamas together. Well, they didn’t make it to the Bahamas, they made it to Key West, and 10 years, 2 kids, and a cat later, they decided to move closer to home and start up the family business, never knowing the profound impact it would have on me and my brother. Being born and raised on a sailboat, you could say I’m pretty addicted to the ocean. (For those of you that don’t know, we run a 76′ sailing schooner in St. Augustine, Florida.)
Even at a few months old, this salty sailor had her sea legs.
25 years later, and I’m still sailing with my dad. My parents just bought a beautiful boat in Texas that they are planning on moving to Florida pretty soon. I am so excited to make that trans- gulf crossing. There is something about a long-term sailing voyage that is just riveting, not seeing land for days, and only breathing in the salty air. It’s exhilarating.
Every dad should teach their daughter to sail, though many might never get the chance. What to get the dad who taught me ~most~ of what I know about the ocean. (Hey y’all, I DID take a Marine Oceanography class in Uni, alright?)
Dad enjoying his brand new Nautica Voyage cologne
I found the answer with Nautica, a brand we as a family have always loved. I decided to get my father the Nautica Voyage Cologne (50 ml) to say thank you for all that he has done for me.
Nautica represents everything my dad taught me when I was learning to sail. How to love the ocean, how to get outside, why it is always so important to have an anchor – literally and metaphorically. The essence of life on the water isn’t something you can just convey through words, it’s something you hear, smell, taste, and live.
My dad loves his Nautica Voyage Cologne I got him. It smells like a new sail and a bite into an apple on a summer day. It’s rich and has a deep musky and woody amber scent to it. Gifting this Nautica men’s fragrance is the perfect way to Celebrate Father’s Day and life on the water. Nautica is timeless, and so is dad.
