To craft rugged luxury itineraries for open minded explorers seeking faraway and bespoke experiences
It’s summertime, and love is in the air! What better way to celebrate your love than to take the trip of a lifetime!? Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, engagement, or honeymoon – there are SO many romantic places to visit in Greece, I’m a bit miffed as to where to begin. However, I’m going to undertake the task today to help you figure out where you should go and which are the most Romantic Greek Islands to travel to!
Greece is ~almost~ a second home to me. After visiting more than 10 Greek Islands (and many more to come) and spending nearly 4 months in Athens (and likely many more to come), Greek might not be my second language, but it holds a second home in my heart! Now, let’s chat about those Romantic Greek Islands we all love so much!
With breathtaking views, Santorini’s caldera and its epic views of the surrounding Aegean Sea make it one of the most Romantic Greek Islands. Wander around white-washed buildings and blue-domed churches to create a breathtaking backdrop that is undeniably romantic. Not only that, but Santorini is one of the most romantic Greek Islands due to itsits beautiful sunsets, all to be viewed from your private dipping pool or hot tub at your Oia – based luxury resort.

What can be more romantic than retracing the footsteps of Mamma Mia? Skopelos is one of my personal favorites – it is a quiet island, with traditional villages that have a laid-back and romantic atmosphere. My personal preference when it comes to Romantic Greek Islands. Exploring the villages, with their quaint tavernas and cafes, is a great way for couples to spend time together.
The town of Hydra is pedestrian-only, which creates a tranquil and romantic atmosphere without the noise and pollution of cars and motorbikes. Hydra offers a variety of romantic activities, such as horse-drawn carriage rides, boat trips to secluded beaches, and dining at intimate restaurants with sea views. Hydra is on the up-and-up, with many in the know calling it the new Mykonos and there are several luxury and boutique accommodation options on the island to choose from to make this one of the top Greek Islands for Romance.
Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and has a diverse landscape, from rugged mountains to sandy beaches. The island’s ancient ruins, charming villages, and delicious cuisine make it one of the most Romantic Greek Islands.
Most people think of Mykonos, and they think of partying and nightlife, but this Cycladic Island might surprise you. While Mykonos possesses a vibrant nightlife, it also has romantic spots and intimate corners with fabulous dining. The winding streets of Little Venice and the island’s beaches, crystal clear waters, and luxury accommodations make it a perfect destination for couples looking for a Greek Island Romantic Getaway.

OK, I promise you, this is not a cop-out! Undoubtedly the most romantic thing you could do is to rent a private yacht for the week (it can be small!) and explore the different Greek Islands at your disposal. You might be surprised at how much more you can see at just about the same rate, with your own private chef on board! Greek island hopping on a sailboat can be a very romantic experience for couples. It offers privacy, scenic views, adventure, and romance, making it a perfect way to explore the Greek islands together.
Corfu is a picturesque island with Venetian architecture, narrow streets, and charming squares. The island’s beaches, olive groves, and hilltop villages provide a romantic atmosphere that is perfect for couples and creates a prefect Romantic Greek Getaway.
Rhodes is known for its medieval old town, which has narrow streets, stone walls, and charming squares. The island has a rich culinary tradition, with delicious dishes made from fresh local ingredients. Some of the island’s specialties include fresh seafood, meze, and honey and nothing says romance like a good meal.
While not a Greek Island, Porto Chelli is a quaint seaside town located on the eastern coast of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, boasting great food and hotels. Some of the best beaches in the area include Ververonda, Hinitsa, and Agios Emilianos. Porto Cheli is located near several historic sites, including the ancient city of Epidaurus, the Mycenaean ruins at Mycenae, and the medieval town of Nafplio – which is one of my absolute favorite towns I have visited in Greece.
If the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic taught me one thing, it’s to never ever book travel without travel insurance.
Travel Insured is the ONLY company I use to ensure my travel, and I highly recommend looking into their yearly plans. They also have a “cancel for any reason” policy add-on which allows you peace. of mind no matter what comes to happen.
