I’ve long held a deep love for Polynesian culture after living in Tahiti for over a year and Hawaii boasts the same incredible beauty, rich traditions and warm hospitality, all with the convenience of being a part of the US. Hawaii’s Luxury Accommodations: A First-Hand Experience

My stay spanned five distinctive properties, each offering unique charms:

1. Hyatt Maui: The level of service here was simply outstanding. Breakfast at Swan Court, right next to the water, was a daily highlight. The culinary offerings throughout were exceptional, setting a high bar for hospitality.
2. Sheraton Maui: Positioned next to the famous Black Rock, this property boasts an incredible beach with world-class snorkeling. I was fortunate enough to spot turtles and eagle rays! The luau I attended here was not only a great show with delicious food but also deeply informative about Polynesian culture.
3. Westin Maui: Recently renovated, this property truly has something for everyone. The exclusive Lanai area in the Hokupa’a tower was a standout, offering premium amenities and a perfect balance of relaxation and productivity. The property’s focus on wellness was exemplified by complimentary yoga and group fitness sessions, bedside lavender essential oil and menus that highlighted healthy dining options.
4. Outrigger Kaanapali: While I didn’t get to stay here, I toured the property and dined at their beachfront restaurant twice – it was that good! The relaxed, classic Hawaiian vibe is palpable. I was particularly moved by their response to the Maui wildfires – instead of laying off due to lack of business, they kept staff employed by having them create unique local art for each room, it really showcased their commitment to the community.
5. Wailea Beach Resort: Offering a more secluded atmosphere than the Kaanapali beach area, this sprawling property caters to various traveler types with diverse pool options and room categories. The oceanfront walking path, proximity to beautiful beaches, and varied dining options (including on-site food trucks) make it a versatile choice for those looking to check out a different part of the island.

Connecting with Hawaii Luxury Travel Suppliers: Expanding Horizons

Though I would have loved to personally visit every property on the island, a hotel marathon of that stature was not on the cards for this trip – there’s always next time though! Fortunately, the conference provided an excellent alternative. I had invaluable opportunities to connect with representatives from numerous prestigious properties across the Hawaiian Islands. Experiencing Maui: Beyond the Hotel Walls

While the conference was enlightening, experiencing Maui firsthand was truly magical. Some standout experiences for me were:

• A traditional luau at the Sheraton, offering deep insights into Polynesian culture and dance
• A breathtaking sunset catamaran cruise from Kaanapali Beach, complete with whale sightings (and it wasn’t even whale season!)
• Sampling exquisite local seafood – literally everywhere. From food trucks to fancy restaurants, everything was so fresh and flavorful
• Driving the legendary Road to Hana, a full-day adventure filled with unforgettable sights
• Exploring Haleakala Crater, walking above the clouds for awe-inspiring views

A Crucial Takeaway: Maui is Open for Visitors

Perhaps the most important lesson from this trip is that Maui is not only open but eagerly welcoming visitors. In the wake of the devastating wildfires, there’s a misconception that the island isn’t ready for tourists. However, the reality is quite the opposite. The people of Maui are extending open arms to visitors, recognizing tourism as a crucial element in rebuilding their community. The culture remains strong, and the island continues to offer diverse experiences for all types of travelers.

Moving Forward: A Renewed Passion

This conference has left me so inspired and ignited a deeper passion for pairing clients with their perfect trip. I’m now more equipped than ever to craft personalized, unforgettable journeys that not only meet but exceed clients’ expectations.
